IAAPA Chairman arrives in Manila

The Chairman of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), Mr. Bob Rippy arrives in the Philippines on June 16, 2011 to lead another milestone for the fledgling Philippine Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (PhilAAPA) and its members, mostly leaders and prime movers of the local amusement, theme parks, entertainment, leisure and attractions industry.  Mr. Rippy is the first ever IAAPA Chairman to visit the country.

IAAPA is the leading trade association for the attractions and amusements industry throughout the globe. IAAPA is also the largest international trade association for permanently situated amusement facilities and attractions worldwide and is committed to the perpetuation and success of the amusement industry, and was founded over ninety three (93) years ago in the United States. It represents over 4,000 suppliers, facilities and individual members from more than 90 countries. Member facilities include amusement/theme parks, attractions, water parks, arcades, zoos, family entertainment centers, museums, aquariums, discovery/ technology centers, casinos and resorts, the most notable of which include Disney, Universal Studios, Merlin Entertainment (Legoland, Madame Tussauds, etc.) and the Blackstone Group (Seaworld, Busch Theme Parks, etc.).
Mr. Rippy brings to IAAPA a vast of wealth of experience as the owner-president of Jungle Rapids Family Fun Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA.  Through Mr. Rippy's able leadership, he has led the IAAPA towards its continuous path of expanding and upgrading its membership and making it a truly global association with a renewed thrust in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Last November 2011, Chairman Rippy led the members of IAAPA during the Annual Attractions Expo held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. During his visit to the Philippines this June 16, Mr. Rippy is expected to meet with the country’s key players in the local amusements and attractions industry to discuss latest trends and concerns as well as the promotion and members’ support requirements and the advocacies shared by all PhilAAPA members to the industry. Mr. Rippy has also been invited as Guest of Honor during the induction ceremony of the board of the Philippine Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (PhilAAPA) on June 18.  

PhilAAPA is headed by Mr. Mario O. Mamon, Chairman & President of Enchanted Kingdom.  Mr. Mamon was also elected IAAPA 3rd Vice Chairman in 2010. This current position will elevate him to the position of IAAPA Chairman in 2014, the first Asian and, proudly, the first Filipino to ever hold the position.
